Preservation Information 143601, the pioneer Class 143, became the 8th of the class to be preserved after the Tanat Valley Railway secured two sets for its modest line. It arrived shortly after classmate 143616 in July 2021. Because the Tanat Valley had not yet reached a stage where it was offering passenger rides, 143601 was initially stored but kept in an operating condition. The railway recognised that the set needed some restoration work so it was stood down fully in 2022 to await the repairs. 143601 remains stored awaiting restoration but can still be started and moved if required.
Future Plans Restoration in due course followed by use on the railway.
