Preservation Information
142019 was the ninth Class 142 to be preserved, its last mainline depot being Heaton in Newcastle. After withdrawal from service it was stored for a short time at Worksop before being moved by road along with 142020 to the Waverley Route Heritage Centre in mid February 2020. The move was to prove troublesome however with heavy snow leading to only three of the four transporters making it through after a delay of several days en-route. It was 55610 from 142019 that had to be left behind, to follow at a later date.

Some months later both halves of 142019 were reuinted in the sidings at Whitrope.

Since then 142019 has been out of the spotlight with sister 142020 being run in passenger service and repainted instead. Though possibly still operational, 142019 has yet to work any passenger services so can be considered as in storage.

Future Plans
142019 may be put into passenger service at some point at Waverley Route Heritage Centre.
