Private Site: BSC Scunthorpe

The ex British Steel plant at Scunthorpe has been the home of the Appleby - Frodingham Railway Preservation Society for many years. They aim to preserve Scunthorpe’s steel heritage and have operated tours around the site for many years.

The site is still an operating steel works now owned by Tata Steel Company. Many of the tours are operated using two Class 108 vehicle hauled by one of their locomotives, the DMU vehicles having performed this duty since 1991. However some services are operated by brakevans also.

After some 30 years of stability, in 2020 a second generation unit joined the 108's on site, however it was for storage and not passenger use.
