Preservation Information
142033 was the first Class 142 set to be secured outside of traditional railway preservation, as part of a scheme named "Transform a Pacer" by owner Angel Trains which aimed to see redundant Class 142 vehicles reused in community roles in preference to scrapping them. 142033 was purchased by South Wales Police, becing the second Class 142 to be "preserved", and moved to the rugby stadium at Bridgend, a faintly ironic location for the ex Northern Rail example, given South Wales contained its own fleet 30 Pacers that saw service regularly from Cardiff.

Given the understandably closed nature of the training exercises conducted by the emergency services, reports as to the status of 142033 are few and far between, however it is presumed that the two car set continues to sit on a static basis at Bridgend and is used as required by South Wales Police.

Future Plans
142033 was always preserved with static community use in mind, so operation as a train ever again is extremely unlikely. Unless future reports prove otherwise, it is expected 142033 will continue to be used in the future by South Wales Police as a training aid for staff.
